Matt just keeps cranking out movies. It’s what he’s good at. And it looks like I’m in this one, too! (Again!) Sometimes, you record these things so long ago, you forget you did it when it comes out. I’ve been in at least one other Bubble Bubble Meows movie, but this one looks like it’s gonna be incredible. To orient you: these are movies that are good for both kids and adults, and I’m a big fan. You will not want to miss this, I promise. Maybe I could find a theater somewhere and show it. The last Bubble Bubble Meows theater show we went to was a HUGE hit.

Oh, there’s a trailer:

I was finally able to pop into the mail all the ’zines that people requested recently, and they should have arrived by now. And, on top of that: The Art Department is not only carrying it, but it’s been selling! Very cool! If you want to get a copy in Salem, you’ll have to go to The Art Department, the only place in town that carries local ’zines.

My offer still stands: if you would like a copy, I can send you one in exchange for postage, or we can just do a trade. (You send me your zine, I’ll send you mine.) There’s a limited quantity, so act fast. I’m about half-way through writing the next issue, but if you want to submit something, let me know! If it doesn’t make it into the next issue, I hope to make one after that, even. I’m gonna see how long I can keep this going.

“A Radio Boy In A Television World” is a return to the kinds of ’zines I used to make: a snapshot of my life, this time set in Salem, Oregon, where I make radio, sling art supplies, and try to make sense of the world. I know, I know. High concept, sure to get lost on the critics. I’m hoping the sex-appeal of the regularly worn bow ties will at least move a few units among the shippers in the audience who want to see the tie and the pocket protector get together.

Anyway, message me if you want to work something out. I think I might be onto something, here.

Is there a version of Wordle where I can listen to a clip from a Mid-Century Radio Drama, and I have to guess if it is Fibber McGee’s Closet, or a car-crash, or Superman beating up some crooked businessmen, or Candy Matson driving over some garbage cans, or a music cue from Suspense, or fill-in-the-blank-reference-with-a-plausibly-sounding-title-that-I-make-up-to-please-only-myself, or just a piece of musique concrète that was made by Pierre Schaeffer?

Because I would etc. cliche the hell out of that game.

This is probably the greatest King Missile song ever made that no one ever talk about:

“There is no life on this planet!
Jehovah-One replaced all life with machinery five centuries ago
The so-called industrial revolution was just another hoax
And we all fell for it, ’cause we were all programmed to.
Even I fell for it, I believe in the steam engine
Even though I don’t believe in anything!”

I wish YouTube playlists actually posted in a useful way, or with a link that was easy to share. Regardless: the most underrated Dead Milkmen album, which has an astonishingly high number of incredible and memorable songs that I almost never hear anyone talk about. “The Secret of Life,” is catchy as hell, and “The Conspiracy Song,” and “If I Had A Gun” are not only prescient, but as funny as any “hits” they had. I challenge more people to sing the praises of Soul Rotation. Dare I say: the perfect Milkmen album? I shall dare, then: it ‘tis, I believe.

The 2-22-2022 madness made me realize that I need a co-host tonight for double the radio power that I normally embody. So my friend Miss Rikki is joining me as we present: A Momentary Lapse of Reason, a sort of reunion of our radio project that was really, really fun. We’ll play clips, convo about this and that, and tell stories about how it all went down. We’ll also be live in the chat! The fun starts at 6 PM PST, 9 PM EST on Sheena’s Jungle Room on WFMU! Join us! It’s the best way to spend an evening…

My biggest fear is becoming someone who refuses to use new technology simply because they don’t want to. I might be in my late 40s, but holy cats, it’s not that hard to actually learn new things so the kids don’t think I’m square.

I’m never more annoyed than when I meet someone younger than me who says they are too old to learn a new trick.

I learned to drive when I was 45. Get over yourself.

This kicks off three days of live radio events that I would love to tell you about. These are events that you can attend from you own home, only require your interest and access to a computer, and is the best way to support us music-type folks safely, without having to worry about interacting with a human out in the world.

I’ll be straight with you: this last two years have been rough, and as it is sometimes safe to go out and play music, and sometimes not (and less safe for some than for others), all of us creative types are having a hard time figuring out how to still be a artists when we can’t gather together and art in the same room with each other.

Radio has always been a big part of my life, and getting invited to join the WFMU family has made the show an even bigger part of my life. With the interactive chats that we have going during the shows, and with listening options that make it easier than ever before, the shift away from performing in front of people has been made up for with an actual, live, conversational audience that are immediately reacting to what I play, when I do it. It’s pretty excellent, and I appreciate it tremendously.

This week, I would love to see YOU in the chat, too.

Tomorrow, at 12 Noon PST streaming at YouTube.com/norcalnoisefest, tune in for the monthly Audio Waffle, I’ve cooked up some visual content that you will NOT want to miss. I’m joined by an international crew of performers that you will not want to miss, including Protofrustration, Diff Tech Tech Diff, Brad Anderson and Skrunt Skrunt! Post photos of your breakfast, and join us for the best way to start your Sunday. (Sacramento Audio Waffle #85 – Virtual Streaming Sessions.)

On Monday, at 3 PM PST (6 PM EST), tune in at Sheena’s Jungle Room on WFMU!, for Dimestore Radio Theater! Four mid-century radio stories, re-presented as they were originally heard, with behind the scenes stories and details about these programs!

Then, on Tuesday at 6 PM PST (9 PM EST), tune in at Sheena’s Jungle Room on WFMU! again, for a new episode of Mid-Valley Mutations! This week, I’ll be joined by Miss Rikki in the chat, as we replay selections from our short-lived, poorly documented, and little-heard radio program, A Momentary Lapse of Reason. This program featured Rikki and I doing collage mixes on the fly, and it was a ton of fun. Hear some choice selections, and stories about making the show. This will be a must-hear event.

Radio Radio Radio! It’s how we do what we do. See you there!

I was doing some research for my show the other day, and I wanted to look up something about OTE that was not immediately coming to mind. And then I found this, which I had never seen before.

This is the greatest honor I can think of. Someone noticed, and added it to their wiki.

I don’t know who and I don’t care. This means so much… and it’s stayed on the page for a while! I’m touched and I still can’t believe it.

Now I have to live up to this…
