The Rich Treasures DIY Pop-Up! (featuring the work of Austin Rich) couldn’t have happened without the support and kindness of Jessica Ramey at the Art Department. Her warmth and generosity turned a one day event into two, and gave me a reason to assemble so much excellent stuff that will be available in the store very soon. Thank you so much Jessica!

Thanks everyone for dropping in today at The Art Department, for the extended Rich Treasures DIY Pop-Up! (featuring the work of Austin Rich) SECOND DAY ADDED! sale that we had this week. In spite of high temperatures and other fun ways to spend time, we had a good number of folks stop in, and that was very sweet. Thanks to everyone who bought something, and helped keep this weird and hard-to-understand dream alive.

If you were unable to visit the Pop-Up in person, and you want to take advantage of the deals, I will let anyone place a few orders this week with the discounts in place. You’ll find the “menu” in the images attached; message me, and we’ll sort it out. With PayPal and Venmo and Mini-Mu-tokens, there’s plenty of ways we can make a deal. There’s rock music, jazz, experimental music, ’zines and all sort of other goodies. Get yours today!

So, check out the table, look at the menu, and let me know! I would love for you to get just the right thing to make your summer awesome.

For the last several years, I’ve been involved with the NorCal NoiseFest. My family is from the area, and still lives there, and the Fest is near and dear to my heart, and having played it the last several years has really done a lot to offer me a community where I didn’t have one before. The shows are always fun, always inclusive, and a big deal for our community out here on the West Coast.

We are looking to raise enough money to cover costs and pay artists for their work this year. And to do that, we need your support.

The line-up this year is very strong, and there’s a ton of amazing acts that you often don’t get to see all in one place. That alone should make it worth it, and there are some great perks for people who support. Check out the link below. We’re doing a hybrid event this year, where some will be live, and some will be streaming via the YouTube Channel. Your support will make all of this possible.

So, if you have a few dollars, and you want to give us a leg-up, please, help us out. We could absolutely use your help.

Support independent art!

Let’s face it: the heat was just too much this weekend. So we have been offered the chance to add another day to the Rich Treasures DIY Pop-Up! (featuring the work of Austin Rich) SECOND DAY ADDED! Come on down, and pick up some excellent music, ‘zines, stickers and more, on a much cooler day. (There’s also AC at the Art Department, cool enough to need an indoor sweater, so you don’t want to miss that.)

There’s free schwag for anyone who drops in, so I’ll see you then?

(Digital sale also extended. Place your orders at 2 PM on Tuesday, and get all the same deals as you would in person.)

I know this story isn’t getting traction outside the affected areas, and still other people I know seem to not know about the Heat Dome we’re experiencing out here. It’s unusual, breaking temperature records for this time our year, and is currently blowing everyone’s minds at how hot it is.

Here’s a little info about what’s going on. The shirt version: no one has ever seen anything like this out here, ever.

Better late than never, here’s a brand new episode of 20 Minutes Into The Future: A Max Headroom Podcast, where we discuss the classic Max Headroom – TV Series Episode, “Security Systems.” This eerily prescient episode about what kind of privacy concerns we would face in the future not only came true is some frightening ways, but offers the blueprint for the Cyberpunk 2020 RPG, right down to some of the terminology.

We discuss all of this, our continued concerns about the growing HR violations at Network 23, why we still feel strongly about #ACAB policies, and how Dom must light that super-long cigarette she’s always smoking.

All of this, and more, in our new installment of 20 Minutes Into The Future: A Max Headroom Podcast!

We are less than one day away from the Rich Treasures DIY Pop-Up! (featuring the work of Austin Rich) happening TOMORROW at The Art Department here in beautiful Salem, Oregon. Here’s the important details you’ll need to know:

1.) Yes, there is AC. First and foremost.

2.) The Pop-Up Begins promptly at 2 PM. There are a few free items UNIQUE TO THIS EVENT for people who show up in person, so if you want the schwag, you’ll need to show up early. There are limited quantities of most everything, too, so if you want something, early is better!

3.) I’ve been in contact with The Art Department, and they assure me that there will be AC. I’m not sure if I mentioned that.

4.) There will be representations of all of my work, going back almost 30 years now. This includes ’zines, music in an array of formats (digital, CDs, tapes, records & musical postcards), movies that I’ve been in / worked on, t-shirts, buttons and stickers, and a variety of other odds and sods.

5.) For those of you who have been messaging me: there is AC at The Art Department, so you can beat the heat and enjoy a DIY Treat.

6.) Out-of-Print material will be available for the first time in years! A few new items will also be available, too! And, many usual items that you know and love will be there so you can get one for your cousin or weird uncle. There will also be samples of some VERY OLD items to look at… and possibly buy if you really, really want them. BE WARNED.

7.) I was told I should mention there is AC. So: yes, there is AC.

8.) In the cool, wonderful environs of The Art Department – away from the heat of the rest of the city – I will be making buttons and collages and other items during the Pop-Up. If you want something specific, just ask! In some ways, you can watch me work while you shop.

9.) If you do not live in Salem, and can’t make it to the event, YOU ARE IN LUCK! Beginning at 2 PM, PST, you can participate in the sale, too! I will be posting photos and videos of items for sale live from The Art Department, and you can message me with your on-line purchases, to get in on the deals that are not available under normal circumstances. I will post “The Menu” at 2 PM, so you can start making your selections!

10.) Don’t forget to stock up on all your Art Supply needs at The Art Department, while you are shopping for the DIY Goodies I’m supplying. They have amazing supplies at great prices, and you can find something for almost any hobby.

11.) There are items for sale, BUT: Let’s make a deal! I’m into trades and offers, and it would be a shame if you thought you couldn’t get in on this because of a lack of funds. Let’s talk!

12.) Questions? Slide into my DMs, as they say. There’s a lot going on, and the heat is making us all a little weird. Maybe you should step into the AC at The Art Department and enjoy the afternoon?

See Ya Then!

PS. I think there’s AC. Which will be good, as it will be hot!

Aside from a brief forest interlude, I’ve spent the last few weeks making merch, essentially all day, everyday. I’ve been making things for the Rich Treasures DIY Pop-Up! (featuring the work of Austin Rich), where you will find new, old, out-of-print, and otherwise stuff you can buy, that falls in the music / zine / adjacent categories. As an incentive, there is a one-of-a-kind pin / button that you can get, only at this event, for free. But you have to come in and see what we’ve got cooking, in order to get it. (Think of it a a gift with a test drive; you should at least look at the things I made first.)

It’s only a three hour event, so you should get there early; many things are in extremely limited quantities. There is an option for people to make online purchases, if they cannot make it to the event in person.
